CHRISTMAS EVE

Good morning to you on this Christmas Eve Day 2017. If you don't get your shopping finished today, then I'm afraid you will have to wait till next year.

Although many times I say or sing: "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year" I have made the discovery that this statement is not necessarily so.
Thinking back over my own life there was a time when I was young, that Christmas was all about getting that set of "Roy Rogers six shooters and holsters" that I saw in either Simpsons or Eatons Catalog. Oh I wanted them so bad, I could feel them in my hands and slapping against my sides as I ran. Then on Christmas morning when it was time to open the presents, what an emotional trainwreck it was, when the gift in the box that looked like it could be the six shooters, turned out to be a pair of Long-Johns. I am sure that one event of seventy some years ago, changed my emotional thought process forever.

Today I think about "Toy Mountain" and how many youngsters will not get that one toy they dreamed about. I think about the "Abused Mother" who has to bring her child to eat at the Salvation Army Food Kitchen, and the Homeless Veteran hanging around the "Mission" looking for a handout. In these cases Christmas is definitely not the best time of the year. But I'm hopeful a pair of mittens, or a hat, or even a pair of Long-Johns could change their outlook on life forever.

Take care of yourself and each other and if you get a moment say a little prayer for those who have not, nor can not.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

awesome_merry-_christmas-_images.jpg
Good morning and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I know I haven't written this old Blog for a while, mainly because I didn't have much to say. We hope this finds everyone healthy and well and enjoying life every day, except on the days when it snows or is very cold, and on those days we can sit inside, we can grumble and watch the weather through the window, and tell ourselves we are lucky we don't have to go outside if we don't want to.
All our Square Dance Club are now closed for the festive season and I have just finished my 16th. annual 5 days of teaching the students at Frank Ryan School to Square Dance. My new BOSE sound system worked very well in this gym and had absolutely no trouble covering this gym with good, clear, crisp sound. Two of my fellow Callers visited us while at Frank Ryan and were impressed with the sound.

Today, December 23 I will go out and do my Christmas shopping (not wanting to leave it till the last minute) plus get groceries as we will host Judy's brother and family for Christmas Dinner.

Now it's time to get a move on, so take care of yourself and each other and I hope to see you on the Dance Floor.

COOKIE CLUB SUNDAY

Good morning to you  on this Cookie Club Sunday, it is cool outside this morning at -4C and it will stay about that temperature most of the day, with a 40% chance of light snow sometime during the day.

Cookie Club will meet again this afternoon and dance through as many Advanced Calls as we can get covered. We will put emphasis on "Split / Box Transfer", "Reverse and Left", and a peek at some CallerLab updates on  "Split Counter Rotate". This should take care of most of the afternoon.

We hope to see you at the Cookie Club this afternoon, take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.

COOKIE CLUB SUNDAY

Good snowy Sunday morning, which is not all that nice outside at this time. The temperature here is -1 C and it is snowing a little now, I'm not sure of the driving conditions out there but I expect the roads are not in bad shape. It will warm up a little during the day, so we will go ahead with the Cookie Club A2 this afternoon. if you want to attend then I'll leave the driving up to your discretion.
Today we will dance straight ahead Advanced with out any "off the wall crazy ideas", except maybe a little Left Handed material, and try to cover all the Advanced Calls, along with most of the acceptable dance positions we have covered so far.
If you are planning to attend then please drive safely as there was some freezing rain last night before the snow and that could mean it might be slippery in places.
That's it for now, take care of yourself and each other and I'll see you on the dance floor.

ADAMS' ACES DAY

Good Monday morning, after a very wet Sunday, the ground around here is totally saturated with water and so is everything else. Today is going to be sunny and dry with a wind of about 18 / 20 km/h, the temperature now is 13 C but, it will drop gradually until this evening when it will be about 0 C.

The program for Aces tonight is to Call & Dance all, or most of, the A1 Callerlab list, with a review on "Cast A Shadow" starting from a Promenade Formation, fix what incorrect information I gave you last week on "3/4 Zoom", and review "Chain Reaction" starting from a Left Hand Quarter Tag Formation. If you have a Call, you would like a review on, please let me know and I'll work through it.

Okay, that's about all I can tell you this morning, so take care of yourself and each other, and I'll see you on the Dance Floor.
